I had a lovely time talking plagues, pestilence, and the black death for the ArchaeologyUK and launching the #FestivalOfArchaeology in style! It was a long day in Saint Albans, covering a decade or more of civil war in Britain and Ireland for 150 year 7s, but was lovely to have some sunshine and people seemed to enjoy it as much as I did! I have been invited along to the @archaeologyuk #FestivalofArchaeology at @leicestermuseums's very own Abbey Pumping Station this Saturday. I've been hard at work creating a new addition to my armoury all ready for a British Civil Wars day this week. A simple trimmed and cleaned (kinda) bit of tree - perfect for arming folks in a hurry...but does anyone know what the relationship is between the civil wars and men (and women) with clubs?! Wow, five years ago I had spent the day in wool under blazing skies, bringing Victorian Britain to life (and getting people to sign the People's Charter) at @sareholebakehouse with some good chums Yesterday was my first day back at @astonhallbmt with the public - our grand (re)opening, and it was great to have people back inside, and seeing the fantastic reinterpretation inside. Gosh, it was apparently five years ago I was at the Peterborough Heritage Festival with my good chum portraying the entire War of the Three Kingdoms (in England)/English Civil War...which was a bit challenging! We have a new arrival, a new member of the Historic Echoes team - only problem is they're a bit quiet and I've no idea of their name! Any suggestions? What a difference a weekend can make - last Sunday I was at my first reenactment training for...some time, and it really hit home how my conditioning, endurance, stamina, and coordination has suffered!
